How Does Your Website Help?
By using the profit made from website services, Organic Thought operates social and environmental projects that bring upon social change. The goal is to provide the community website services, leave as small of an ecological footprint as possible during the process, and use the profit from the service to address social and community needs. Below is a list of the current initiatives that Organic Thought has undertaken:
-
Globalization has affected many people around the globe, some for the better and some for the worst. Traditional communities in Peru and Bolivia are among those that have been left disadvantaged from the new global market. These families are left crippled as their only skill, spinning wool and knitting, has become obsolete and unmarketable. Demand for their handmade products has declined dramatically as big companies from more prosperous nations have created a more desirable demand for industrialized/brand name products. The impact is even more dramatic once you consider these families have no other skill and have no oppurtunity to learn new skills. Organic Thought has launched a new service on its website that works to create an online market for these disadvantaged families. The goal is to allow these families to sell their handmade products in outside difficult markets. By selling their handmade goods in this online market, these people can create better opputunities for their families, improve their living conditions and hopefully allow their children to become better educated and skilled in practices that will allow them to become much more sustainable. .

Green Energy Web Design is an initiative undertaken by Organic Thought. The goal is to promote and conduct business that is environmentally responsible. Organic Thought offsets the carbon emissions produced by the creation of the clients web site and the hosting of the clients web site. That means the amount of energy that was used to power the web site and web server, an equal amount of renewable, greenhouse gas free energy is injected into the power grid. Carbon credits are purchased from MyClimate, a Gold standard certified carbon credit company, to offset the ecological foot print. The projects are also operated by disadvantaged communities.
