Why Use Profit From Web Design services For Non-profit Humanitatian Work?
The Philosophy
The philosophy behind Organic Thought is very simple:
1) Take only what is needed and contribute the rest to those who need it more
2) Conduct business in a manner that does not harm the environment or
scommunity in any way
In addition, Organic Thought beleives that the principles of integrity, honesty and compassion should be put before wealth and self-gain. These principles insure Organic Thought acts not as a business working for self gain, but an organization working for the communities best interest. It is the commitment to these principles that allows the organization to use its resources in web development to a)provide excellent web site services to the community and b)address problems in our communities that so urgently need to be addressed.
The Goal
The goal of Organic Thought is to provide proffesional website solutions to the community and address community problems. This is acheived by using the profit from web services to operate community projects. The two current projects undertaken by Organic Thought address the issues of global warming and world poverty. The first project offsets harmful greenhouse gasses produced by each clients website (the development and hosting). The second project helps disadvantaged families living in poverty. The objective of the organization is to use a business model to address social and community needs. This simple and unique business model of Organic Thought allows the organization to operate as a business that can be socially responsible, make a meaningful contribution to the community, and remain sustainable.
Profit Distribution
The way that Organic Thought web design services differ from other web design businesses, apart from the service, is that the organization functions for the sole purpose of adressing social issues. Once a contract is completed, a percentage of the profits is used to offset harmful greenhouse gasses emitted from the production and hosting of the clients website. Then, the remaining amount of profit is used to operate an online store that sells alpaca clothing for disadvantaged families living in Poverty. The goal of this operation is to create oppurtunites for disadvantaged families in Bolivia. After the costs for these two operations are fulfilled, the remaining profit is used to pay for labour expenses for the website services. The labour wage is usually very minimal, but by doing this the philosophy of the organization, and the sole operator, Tarn Dhillon, remains intact: take only what is needed and contribute the rest to those who need it more.
